New Transport Commissioner Clive Clarke has denied reports that as many as 20 licensing officers have been suspended.
During an interview on Saturday, Clarke admitted that licensing officers were recently suspended, but he said the figure quoted in a recent newspaper headline and attributed to the Minister of Works was extremely exaggerated.
Clarke said as it stands currently, only three officers have been suspended as a result of ongoing investigations into fraud.
He said “Two licensing/transport officers are currently on suspension while one motor vehicle attendant is on suspension.”
Clarke said the three may soon be joined by other colleagues, pending the outcome of the investigations.
