The North Coast Road opened this morning at 6 o’clock to accomadate two lanes of traffic.

The road was closed off in the vacinity of the 11 km mark between the Maracas Lookout and Maracas Bay on Saturday.

Part of the road collapsed over the weekend due to inclement weather.

Minister of Works and Transport told the media on Sunday that the team on site worked around the clock.

He explained the type of work that was involved in achieving the temporary fix.

He said following assessments a decision was taken not to constuct a temporary bailey bridge which was being considered initially.

He said despite his appeals to persons not to use the North Coast Road which was closed while works were ongoing persons were not heeding the call.
