Trade Unions Call For Good IR Practices Over Dismissal Of PTSC Bus Driver And Transport Union Rep

Three trade unions are calling on the Board and Management of the Public Transport Service Corporation to rescind the letter of dismissal to bus driver and President of the Transport and Industrial Workers Union South Branch, Ryan Ramdath.

The Trade Union Federations claimed on September 9th, the PTSC terminated Mr Ramdath’s position as a bus driver.

This is on alleged charges he had committed an act of misconduct after he spoke to a local media house revealing details about the poor working conditions the PTSC drivers had to endure.

The federations are appealing for good industrial relations practices and principles to be adhered to in this development.

In a media release on Wednesday, the Joint Trade Union Movement, The National Trade Union Centre, and the Federation of Independent Trade Unions stated that the matter can be resolved swiftly and amicably, to the satisfaction of both the TIWU and PTSC.

The federations said it stand ready and willing to intervene in this matter.
