Tobago man denied bail for penetrating 11-year-old girl

A 39-year-old man was denied bail when he appeared virtually before Magistrate Joanne Connor on Wednesday 9th March at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court charged with two counts of sexual penetration.

The accused, of Signal Hill, Tobago, was arrested after the victim, an 11-year-old girl, reported that during the period January, 2020, and April 2020, the accused had sexual intercourse with her. The girl further reported that sometime between Saturday 29th February 2020 and Wednesday 1st April, 2020, the accused gave her alcohol.

WPC Clarke, of the Tobago Division Child Protection Unit (CPU) was detailed to investigate. After a period of investigations, WPC Clarke arrested and charged the suspect for two counts of sexual penetration of a minor.

He is expected to reappear at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 6th April, 2021. to answer to the charges.

Investigations were supervised by W/Supt Ag. Claire Guy- Alleyne, Asp. Ag. Roberts and Sgt Miller of the Child Protection Unit.
