The blood supply in Tobago is critically low and the public is being asked to donate as a matter of urgency.
According to a release from the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development, the levels at the blood bank are low and need to be replenished.
Blood donations can only be sustained by regular, voluntary, non- remunerated blood donation.
Acting Medical Chief of Staff, Dr. Victor Wheeler is urging the public to help save lives by donating.
He said, “We are in need of blood and are critically low and we need the public’s help.”
“It’s not a difficult process and it’s very simple. Often we don’t think about blood donations until someone we know needs it. Don’t wait for that emergency situation, do it now” Dr. Wheeler said.
Persons wishing to donate blood can call 660-4744 ext. 3101 to make an appointment.
The Blood Bank is located at the Scarborough General Hospital.
