Tips for a cheap but fun Valentine’s Day

They say “money can’t buy you love,” and while we know this is true, the pressure to spend a ton at Valentine’s Day can make anyone question it.
That’s a lot of heart-shaped everything, fancy dinners and romantic gestures. But guess what? You don’t have to spend nearly $400 to show your love—or to have a memorable, fantastic time together! Here are few cheap Valentine’s Day date ideas to impress your date (and your wallet).

Make Breakfast Together – Forget your diet and splurge on our crunchy French toast sticks recipe! Take this early morning date straight back to the bed (literally) and have your breakfast B&B style. You decide what comes next.

Host a Blindfolded Taste Test – Make a tray of secret goodies for your sweetheart but don’t let them see! Cover their eyes with a blindfold, feed them small bites of each food, and see if they can guess what it is. Keep it sweet—it is Valentine’s Day, after all!

Make Your Own Chocolate Candy – Forget those overpriced (but sooo delicious) heart-shaped boxes of chocolate turtles and make your own version for cheap. Get messy with it and have fun! Is it really a date in the kitchen if someone doesn’t end up with chocolate on their nose??

Watch a Movie Under the Stars – Grab a blanket and your laptop or iPad and you’ve got all you need for a perfect movie night! Either pop in your favorite DVD or find something new on Netflix. Pop some delicious stove-popped popcorn for a special movie snack!

Have a Picnic – This one is always a winner! Pack a picnic dinner and drive out to a park or public beach. Have a romantic picnic dinner while you watch the sunset. Just make sure you pack plenty of blankets to snuggle up as the
evenings here in TT have been getting chilly!

Buy a Plant – Flowers are kind of a big waste of money, the thought is cute, but they are expensive and they die. Rather than sending flowers, buy a plant. It will be enjoyed for much, much, much longer.

Balloon Gift – Write something you love about the person on a slip of paper inside each balloon and fill their room, office, car, kitchen, WHATEVER with them. Yes, the cheap-o balloons from Walmart or wherever work great. No helium needed.

Free Massage Certificate – This one is a favorite and NEVER goes unused! It doesn’t have to be fancy, but put it down on paper to make it official. Designate a time for the length of the massage and an expiration date, then seal it with a kiss!

You see, staying in can be fun, too!! Make the most of what you have and focus on each other and we know your Valentine’s Day will be special.
