Three Venezuelans held in relation to death of man in Macoya

Police have detained three Venezuelan nationals for questioning, in connection with the death of a 42-year-old man in Macoya on New Year’s night.

It was revealed that around 9pm on Friday, Aarif Mohammed and his Venezuelan girlfriend were involved in a physical altercation at their Charlieville, Chaguanas, home, following which the women left the home and went to her family’s home at Macoya Extension, Tunapuna.

Mohammed, armed with a cutlass, followed the woman to the house in Tunapuna, where he was then confronted by three of the woman’s male relatives, all Venezuelan.

In the melee, Mohammed chopped one of the men on his hand but was eventually beaten, tied up and chopped by the others, before losing all consciousness.

The men then notified police and the trio, ages 20, 24 and 49, were arrested.
