Three to appear in court for sexual and physical abuse to three minors

A woman and two men are expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today charged with sexual and physical abuse to three children.

The trio were held and charged with the offences which arose from three separate reports by three female minors. The accused were charged by officers attached to the Western Division Child Protection Unit (CPU).

In the first incident, CPU officers charged a 36-year-old man of Cumuto on February 27th with one count of sexual penetration and one count of sexual touching of a female minor.

The male security guard was arrested on February 26th in connection with a report made by the alleged victim in September 2020. He was charged by WPC Spencer.

In the second incident and third incident, a 26-year-old Maraval man and Carenage woman, were charged with one count of cruelty of a child following investigations into two separate reports of alleged physical abuse by two female minors.

The charges were laid by WPCs Johnson-Eccles and Beckles, respectively.

According to the minors, they were both at home when their father and mother allegedly assaulted them with household items and bare hands, respectively.

Investigations led to the arrest of the man and woman on
February 26th.

The arrests of the suspects were made possible with the assistance of officers attached to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and Northern Division Task Force (NDTF).

Investigations were supported by Snr Supt. Oswain Subero of the IATF, W/Supt (Ag.) Claire Guy-Alleyne, ASP Roberts, Sgt James and WPC Dorman of the CPU.
