Three persons were arrested and a firearm and a quantity of marijuana seized by officers during anti-crime exercises conducted yesterday in the Northern Division.
In the first exercise, Task Force officers conducted an exercise between 6 am and 9 am, on Sunday 19th March, 2023, during which they proceeded to Mexico Road, Wallerfield, where they conducted a comprehensive search of a bushy area.
The search resulted in officers finding one Smith and Wesson revolver and one round of ammunition wrapped in a grey jersey.
Several other areas including La Retreat, Mt. Zion, Maturita and Pinto were patrolled during the exercise.
Meanwhile, officers conducted an exercise in the Northern and North Central Divisions between 10 pm, on Saturday 18th March, 2023 and 2 am, on Sunday 19th March, 2023.
During the exercise, officers proceeded to the Trincity area where they executed a search warrant at the home of a male suspect.
There, the officers found 25 marijuana trees in an air-conditioned room lit by nine artificial lighting devices.
A quantity of chemicals was also found on the premises.
Two men, ages 29 and 36, who were found in the house at the time of the search were arrested in connection with the find.
And, in the Port of Spain Division, officers on patrol around 9:30 am, on Sunday 19th March, 2023, stopped a silver Honda City motor vehicle with a lone male driver who was dressed in camouflage clothing.
The 33-year-old- man of Belmont was arrested in connection with the attire.
Investigations are ongoing into all the above matters.
