34 new cases of Covid-19 Delta variant In TT

Thirty–four persons have contracted the Covid-19 Delta variant of concern.

This brings the overall number of persons with the virus in Trinidad and Tobago  to 136.

In giving a breakdown on Thursday, the Ministry of Health said eighteen cases are male and sixteen are females.

Three are pregnant; 30 individuals had no travel history.

14 cases are fully vaccinated, one partially vaccinated and fifteen unvaccinated.

17 cases had prior contact with other positive cases.

One case is deceased.

Four cases are pending epidemiologic investigation.

The presence of the Delta variant was confirmed via gene sequencing at the laboratory of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of the West Indies.
