The Oppositon UNC Calls On The Board Of Paria Fuel Trading To Resign

The United National Congress is suggesting the entire board of Paria Fuel Trading Limited resign following the disappearance of four of five drivers employed by LMCS Limited.

In a media release Paria Fuel Trading Limited said at the time of the incident on Friday night the drivers were working on a 30-inch pipeline located at no. 36 Sealine riser on Berth no. 6 at the company.

It said the four hundred meter pipeline is on the seabed in sixty feet of water off Pointe-a-Pierre.

However, speaking at a news briefing Monday afternoon, Opposition Member of Parliament for Pointe-a-Pierre, David Lee, claimed the board at Paria should tender their resignation in light of how the situation was handled.

MP Lee also suggested a family member be included on the five member independent committee which will investigate the tragedy to ensure transparency and accountability.
