The Opposition Claims Workers Are Concerned SOE Extension Could Suppress Trade Union Activities.

The Opposition claims feedback from workers reveal there is concern an extension of the State of Extension will be used to suppress any attempts by the trade union movement to highlight through various means issues affecting their membership.

This was one of the main points raised by Member of Parliament for Couva South, Rudy Indarsingh, as he contributed to the motion extend State of Emergency for three months in the House of Representatives Wednesday afternoon.

MP Indarsingh said the Opposition will sustain its advocacy on this matter.

Mr Indarsingh said he was hoping the Prime Minister would have presented during his piloting of the motion, data relating to herd immunity, more information pertaining to   COVID-19 deaths locally and the Delta and Brazilian variants.
