The head of Barbados’ Supreme Court steps down

After nine years as head of Barbados’ Supreme Court, Chief Justice Sir Marston Gibson is stepping down.

A report in the Sunday Sun out of Barbados stated that Sir Marston wrote Governor General Dame Sandra Mason last month and informed her of his intention to vacate the bench.

He will be going on pre-retirement leave from September 1.

Sir Marston 66, became the 13tht Chief Justice of Barbados assuming office on September 1, 2011.

He was honoured as knight of St Andrew (K.A) in the independence honours list in November 2012.
He practiced law in the U.S for more that 20 years before being selected by the then ruling democratic labour party (DLP) for the position.
