MAMA DIS IS MAS! At the Queen’s Park Savannah, regarded as the home of the Carnival celebrations, held its 2020 King and Queen’s costume semis competition on February 13th.
This competition has become a major staple within cultural festivities throughout the Carnival season.
This year, ‘mas’ creators continue to push the boundaries of our cultural creativity, satisfying high design standards and producing more spectacular costumes, which was noticeable as every costume made its way onto the main stage.
A jubilant audience was delighted by the costumes, that for some may have taken several months to conceptualise, design and construct. Many costumes depicting traditional and fantasy themes of birds, historical references, elementals, etc.
LE FEU MAMAN! LE FEU! ( THE FIRE, MAMA! THE FIRE!), WRATH OF THE SEA WITCH, THE POWER OF LOVE, VENETIAN BEAUTY, were all top runners as each of their costumes were one of grandeur, colour, revelry, rhythm, and gaiety.
The Kings and Queens Finals will be held on February 27th, at the Carnival City, Queen’s Park Savannah.
