The 18th edition of the Pan American Games was deemed a success

The 18th edition of the Pan American Games has successfully concluded in Lima, Peru, but great challenges remain for the Pan American Sports Organization.

The Panam Sports Awards in Fort Lauderdale, the first Junior Pan American Games in Colombia, and the next edition of the continent’s top sporting festival, Santiago 2023, are the next priorities among the countless projects and goals established in the 2019-2023 Strategic Plan.

More athletes, medals and more Olympic qualifiers than ever before, Lima 2019 broke many Pan American Games records.

But the athletes would not be outdone, establishing 80 new Pan American Records as well as one new World Record.

The organising body is set for Cali in Colombia, where the Junior Pan American Games will be held for the first time in history.

These Games seek to bridge the competition gap for the generation of athletes that have completed youth competitions but have difficulty reaching the next level.

Here are the medal standings from the Pan American Games 2019.
