THA Representative To Be Approved For Children’s Authority Adoption Committee

The appropriate ground work is being done to ensure the Tobago House of Assembly has the mandatory representative on the Adoption Committee of the Children Authority which will ensure the organisation can move forward with its work.

This update was disclosed by Leader of Government Business in the Senate, Clarence Rambharat, on Tuesday afternoon.

The revelation was made in the context of a question posed on the subject by Independent Senator, Hazel Thompson-Ahye.

The Independent Senator wanted to know, given there is a child who will reach the age of majority within eleven days and is awaiting imminent adoption, how soon the Adoption Committee of the Children’s Authority will be convened to decide on this urgent application.

Mr Rambharat outlined the genesis of the issue which led to the current development and the action taken to resolve it.
