THA presents $4.7B budget, health sector to get biggest slice

Finance and Economy Secretary Joel Jack presented a $4.71 billion for fiscal 2021.

In the Assembly Chamber of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) on Monday, Jack announced that the biggest allotment, $778.3 million, will be given to the Division of Health.

He also provided the monies allotted to the other Divisions in Tobago.

Jack said that plans are moving ahead for the construction at the ANR International Airport.

Meanwhile, THA’s Minority Leader, Watson Duke, described the budget presentation as a betrayal to the people of Tobago.

He accused Jack of making moves to put Tobago into debt.

Additionally, Chairman of the Tobago Division of the TT Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Diane Hadad, expressed her frustration with the budget figures.

The budget was presented under the theme, ”Advancing Our Development Agenda”.
