Terri Lyons wins Regional ‘Queen of Queens’ Calypso Crown

Musician/Calypsonian, Terry Lyons won the Regional female Calypso Queen competition title while Karene Asche placed 3rd.
Eight ladies battled against defending queen, Karene Asche for the title of Queen of Queens competition in Montserrat last evening.
Roxxy – Anguilla, Sammie C – Antigua, Chrystal Cummins-Beckles – Barbados, Sistah Joyce – BVI, Tasha P – Dominica, Khandie – Montserrat, Miss Independent – St. Kitts & Nevis, Terri Lyons – Trinidad & Tobago and Karene Asche – Trinidad & Tobago all went head to head for the crown.

The event was held at Festival Village, Montserrat, on Friday night.

Lyons captured the crown from among ten competitors, singing her ever popular ‘Obeah’ and ‘Meghan My Dear’.

On the night of the results there a mix-up with the 1st place winner, as it was announced in error that Karene Asche won the title.
However Kenneth Silcott, Director of the Montserrat Arts Council, apologised for the mix-up.He said “I want to apologise to all the queens that represented their respective countries for the unfortunate mishap that happened last night, on December 30.”
