Temporary traffic restrictions for the Presidential Inauguration

The Inauguration of the Seventh President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is set to take place on March 20th, 2023.

The following order issued by the Commissioner of Police, Erla Harewood-Christopher may be cited as the temporary Provisions Traffic Restriction Order, 2023.

This Order has effect from 7.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on Monday 20th March, 2023.

Parking is prohibited on the following streets–

  1. (a)  Queen’s Park West, between the intersection of Queen’s Park East and Queen’s Park West and Casual Corner;
  2. (b)  Queen’s Park East;
  3. (c)  Keate Street, between Charlotte Street and Chancery Lane;
  4. (d)  Gordon Street, between Charlotte Street and Dundonald Street;
  5. (e)  Frederick Street, between Gordon Street and Queen’s Park West;
  6. (f)  Abercromby Street, between Gordon Street and Keate Street;
  7. (g)  Pembroke Street, between Keate Street and Gordon Street;
  8. (h)  New Street, between Pembroke Street and CharlotteStreet; and
  9. (i)  Chancery Lane.

Vehicular traffic is prohibited on–

  1. (a)  Frederick Street, between Queen’s Park West and Keate Street;
  2. (b)  Queen’s Park West, between the intersection of Queen’s Park East and Queen’s Park West and Victoria Avenue;
  3. (c)  Dere Street, between Albion Street and Queen’s Park West;
  4. (d)  Victoria Avenue, between Albion Street and Queen’s Park West;

One-way traffic

  1. (e)  Chancery Lane;
  2. (f)  Pembroke Street, between Gordon Street and Keate Street;and
  3. (g)  Keate Street between Charlotte Street and Chancery Lane.

A person driving a motor vehicle proceeding–

  1. (a)  south on Queen’s Park East shall continue south onto Charlotte Street;
  2. (b)  north on Charlotte Street shall turn west onto Gordon Street; and
  3. (c)  north on Henry Street shall turn either east onto New Street or west onto Gordon Street.

A person driving a motor vehicle on Gordon Street, between Charlotte Street and Dundonald Street, shall proceed in a westerly direction only

(1) A person driving a motor vehicle wishing to park in the Queen’s Park Savannah shall enter at the entrance on Casual Corner, as directed by the Police Officer on duty.

A person driving a motor vehicle with permission to enter the Queen’s Park Savannah may enter at the entrances obliquely opposite Frederick Street and Dundonald Street, as directed by the Police Officer on duty.

Without prejudice to any other liability incurred by the commission of a violation, vehicles found parked in contravention of this Order may be removed by the police and impounded and dealt with in accordance with section 108(1)(b) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act.
