Teachers, students return to classes at SEPOS following school violence on Wednesday

Things are said to have settled and back to normal at the South East Secondary Schooln Port of Spain, following an outbreak of violence at the institution earlier this week.

The officers were called in by the school’s principal shortly after midday on Wednesday to quell several fights that broke out on the compound.

The fights escalated over a two-hour period, and eventually led to officers escorting pupils off the compound.

One source suggested that the escalation of the fights was closely linked to the students’ desire to post content on social media.

During the many fights students could be seen with cell phones recording the melay.

However News Power Now understands that the situation has now settled and both students and teachers have reported for school today.

Speaking with News Power Now this morning, TTUTA President Martin Lum Kim said that while teachers at South East Port of Spain Government Secondary School have returned to classes they are still quite anxious.

He said they have been dealing with the problems of violence at the institution throughout the term, and everything would have culminated on Wednesday.

He revealed that the teachers are frustrated, and to add to their issues end of term exams are to be given soon.

He disclosed that the teachers are willing to work however they are hoping that fights and violence at the school are addressed soon.
