Taxi drivers deny claims of a “Taxi Mafia”

The Port of Spain to Chaguanas Taxi drivers Association is advising persons that they are not obligated to pay the new $15 fare if drivers do not display a fare chart.

So says the Association’s President, Miguel Dollabaille.

Speaking with our newsroom yesterday, he defended the price raise and claimed that despite the public outcry they have no other choice but to raise taxi fares at this time from $11 to $15.

He also seemingly struck down social media claims of a taxi mafia, noting that while other taxi Associations also announced a hike in prices, it was not a collaborative effort with his Association.
