St Joseph police have detained a 29-year-old taxi driver for questioning, in connection with an alleged kidnapping and sexual assault on Friday night.
A woman reported to the police that she boarded a taxi at the Curepe Junction at around 9.45 pm and asked to be taken to Tobin Lane, Curepe.
On entering the Nissan Tiida, the driver told her that he needed to stop for cigarettes and he proceeded on his way.
The woman stated that while driving away from where she asked to be taken, the man began playing with his private parts and then touched her leg.
Upon reaching Evans Street, Curepe, the woman said she opened the door and jumped out of the moving vehicle and ran to the police station, where she made a report.
St Joseph police found the man and arrested him.
