Tahaka Obika: PM must apologise for statements linking to Opposition Leader to racist statements

Former UNC Senator Economist Tahaka Obika is accusing the Prime Minister of playing politics with the safety and security of the nation’s children.

Also speaking on the Power Breakfast Show this morning Obika said that it was unfortunate that students experienced such a harrowing situation on Friday.

He accused the Prime Minister of being unable to execute good governance.

He also commented on what is being described as racist comments by Pundit Satyanand Maharaj in Aranguez last week.

The Pundit stated that Indians in Aranguez were being targeted by urban youth along the east/west corridor.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley aired his views on the matter while referring to the Opposition Leader.

In response Kamla Persad Bissessar warned that if an apology and retraction were not presented she would be taking legal action against Keith Rowley for uttering those false defamatory statements and all media houses and reporters who disseminated said statements.

During his interview this morning, Obika also took Dr Rowley to task for his statements, insisting that he needed to issue an apology.
