Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales, has handed out Instruments of Appointment to the new Board of the Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL).
And, in so doing, he issued the challenge of transforming the ways in which the country disposes of its waste by placing greater emphasis on recycling programmes, among other things.
Minister Gonzales underscored the need for the development of innovative, environmentally friendly approaches to the management of waste, and a transition from the methods that currently obtain.
The new SWMCOL Board comprises Mr. Ron Milford as Chairman and Mr. Steve Waldron as Deputy Chairman. Other members of the Board are: Mr. Reval Chattergoon, Mr. Jabari Jacob, Ms. Yvonne Sarabjit, Mr. Roger Murray, Mr. Cecil D.A. Legendre, Ms. Lea Ramoutar Vialva, Mr. Gerard Ramarack, and Ms. Candace Solomon.
