It seems that tonnes of oil may not have been the only thing being carried onboard the capsized vessel, which has has been seeping the substance onto the southwestern coastline of Tobago for over a week.
In the latest twist into the “ghost ship” an unmarked package yesterday emerged on the shoreline near the overturned vessel.
Police launched an immediate investigation into the discovery of another packet which was inside the larger package which contained a white, unknown, powdery substance.
The unidentified substance in the packet will have to be analysed to determine if it is an illegal product.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Tobago) Collis Hazel, in an Express interview, said the find is being looked into.
He said he was awaiting word from his officers in the case.
The item weighed 1.109 kilogrammes.
