Suspected gang leader in police custody

A suspected gang-leader is currently in police custody after he was arrested during an intelligence-led exercise which was conducted by officers of the Central Division yesterday.

Around 1pm on Sunday 1st May, police received pertinent information then proceeded to a location in Palmiste, San Fernando where they intercepted a Nissan Sylphy motor vehicle.

The vehicle was driven by a man from Enterprise, Chaguanas, who was arrested as investigations revealed that he is not the holder of a valid Driver’s License. Further investigations also revealed that the registration plate on the vehicle was false, as records show that the said number is listed for a white Nissan AD Wagon, which led police to suspect that the vehicle intercepted was stolen.

The vehicle and suspect were taken to Chaguanas Police Station pending further enquiries.

The exercise was supervised by officers of the Central Division, under the supervision of Snr Supt Curt Simon, Supt Pierre, Supt Tewarie, ASP Dipchand and conducted by Insp Ablacksingh and members ofthe Central Division Anti-Gang Unit and Central Division Task Force (CDTF) Area North.
