On August 8, 2024, at approximately 1:15 pm, officers were proceeding east along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in the vicinity of Pasea lights, when they were flagged down and approached by a self-employed produce vendor.
The vendor informed the officers that two men wearing camouflage face masks, hoodies, and blue jeans just robbed him.
The suspects, who were armed with a firearm, stole the vendor’s Samsung A05 cell phone, valued at $1,500, along with $1,500 in cash.
While reporting the incident to the officers, the vendor spotted and pointed out one of the suspects who attempted to flee across the road. The officers pursued and apprehended the suspect matching the description provided, however, the second suspect escaped.
The officers found a camouflage mask and a hammer on the suspect, who was taken to the Tunapuna Police Station.
