One suspect has been arrested in connection with the New Year’s Day murder of 50-year-old Darryl Villafana, of Morvant.
Villafana, who was the first murder victim for 2021, was chopped at his Chrysanthemum Drive, Morvant, home at around 4.30 am.
Police reported that Villafana had a confrontation with two men, who were armed with cutlasses.
The men chopped Villafana several times before running away.
Villafana’s body was found in the bedroom of the house.
His hands were almost severed in the attack.
The entire incident took place in front of Villafana’s daughter and grandaughter.
