Supermarket Association Backs Resolution To Oustanding Issues Affecting Farmers

The Supermarket Association is hoping outstanding issues affecting farmers will be addressed, especially in light of continued concern about food security, affordability and supply.

Recently, at the agri investment forum, regional leaders spoke and about the impact of international events, climate change, droughts and wildfires, and suggested people in the region eat more of what they grow.

Speaking with News Power Now on Monday, SATT President, Rajiv Diptee stated that farmers do not work directly with stores due to the difficulty to assure the quality, consistency and reliability of produce in a timely and coordinated manner. However, he said NAMDEVCO provides a farmer’s registry ensuring certified good agriculture practises on the side of farmers.

Mr Diptee said NAMDEVCO worked out the particular arrangements which are requested by stores.
