Students being lured into gangs is a concern raised by Opposition Senator, Jayanti Lutchmedial, during her input to the Budget Debate on Wednesday afternoon.
Ms Lutchmedial reviewed challenges in the education system at this time citing the need for a holistic approach to address them.
The Opposition Senator cautioned failure to tackle these loop holes can result in serious implications.
Ms Lutchmedial warned the attraction to gangs is strong and intervention is needed which is focused and sustained.
Ms Lutchmedial said this serious development has been highlighted in the past before sittings of the Joint Select Committee.
