Strict appointment system in place for Covid vaccine jabs

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh has revealed that there will be a strict appointment system for vaccination using the first batch of AstraZeneca COVID shots.

A total of 33,600 vaccines were received last night.

Speaking during today’s MOH media briefing, Deyalsingh said that “in the coming two days, you will be seeing in the newspapers, on social media and our pages, the phone numbers of the 21 sites to call for members of the public who are not in the NCD clinics, but who qualify by virtue of either age or NCD’s to make your appointment.”

He said “It is going to be a strict appointment system in the first instance.” Each recipient of a vaccine has to physically come to our site, be vaccinated and be physically monitored for 30 minutes, just to ensure that that person’s safety, they aren’t suffering any adverse reactions.”
