Stewart wins silver at Paris Paralympics

This country’s only Paralympic competitor in Paris, Akeem Stewart, earned himself a Silver Medal in the Men’s Discus Throw on Thursday.

It’s the first Paris medal to be won by a Trinbagonian, as none of the athletes in the recently concluded Paris summer Olympics earned one.

Akeem, 32. threw a Season Best of 59.66 metres, only bested by the USA’s Jeremy Campbell in the F64 Final.

Akeem, nicknamed the ‘gentle giant’, is no stranger to the podium as he became the first male athlete from T&T to won a Gold medal at the Paralympic Games in 2016 with the Javelin Throw.
