State To Appeal Court Case Against An Authorised Firearms Dealer

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley,  says he has been informed by the Attorney General the state will appeal the court case  involving an authorised firearms dealer.

Media reports recently said a High Court Judge decided to stay criminal charges against the dealer.

Dr  Rowley speaking at the weekly post cabinet news briefing held at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s, Thursday said cabinet does not tell the police service how to do its work and he will allow the independent court system to take its course.

The dealer was arrested on September 29, 2022, but later released.

He was re-arrested in Barbados and returned to Trinidad and later charged with possession of weapons.

Dr Rowley said he is scheduled to go Barbados on the weekend and has no plans to meet that country’s Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said if there is wrong doing involved there are systems in place to treat with such development.
