State threatened with lawsuit by retired policeman over unpaid pension

Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi has been served a pre-action protocol letter by a former police officer, in relation to the State’s failure to pay the officer’s pension.

Constable Samuel Friday retired from the TTPS on December 4th 2019, with 36 years of service, but to date, he has not received his pension, gratuity or any form of payment from the State.

His attorneys, Prakash Ramadhar and Ted Roopnarine, wrote in the pre-action protocol letter, that this failure by the State has placed a financial strain on Mr Friday, who is now in danger of losing his home due to unpaid mortgages.

The letter also claims that attempts to liaise with the TTPS have failed to address the matter.

The AG has been given seven days to respond, with litigation to be instituted in default.
