SRP shot by retired cop while trying to quash argument

A Special Reserve Police (SRP) constable is warded at hospital after he was shot and wounded while trying to quell an argument in Sangre Grande on Monday.

The person who shot him, is a 61-year-old retired police sergeant.

According to reports, the SRP was moonlighting as a security guard at the One Plus One supermarket at Foster Road, Sangre Grande at around 3.20 pm, when he heard an argument between the retired policeman and a male customer.

When the SRP attempted to subdue both men, the retired policeman took out his licenced pistol and shot the SRP in both legs.

Police were called and the wounded SRP was taken to the Sangre Grande hospital where he was treated.

The retired officer was detained and his Glock pistol with eight rounds of ammunition seized.
