Spotlight on Venezuela: PM says Immigration Act will be heavily enforced

Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, says the government has been implementing recommendations put forward by the African, Caribbean and Pacific States which did a study in 2010 on the profile of irregular migration, smuggling of migrants and trafficking in persons in Trinidad and Tobago.

Dr Rowley gave the update while speaking at the post cabinet news briefing held at the Diplomatic Center, St Ann’s this afternoon.

Dr Rowley said Trinidad and Tobago was among twelve countries identified in 2010 as pilot situations which required a study on this problem.

The Prime Minister said the document which is available on the website said this country is widely viewed as a destination where its development, employment and integration opportunities is attractive to people.
