Boxing South Africa confirmed the news on Wednesday morning, saying Buthelezi passed away on Tuesday night at a hospital in Durban, after being hospitalised.
Buthelezi collapsed after the boxing match and was taken to hospital.
It was discovered that he suffered a brain injury which resulted in internal bleeding.
Buthelezi was just 24 years old.
