An argument over money has resulted in the death of a 67-year-old Mayaro woman at the hands of her own son.
Reports are that the incident occurred around 10pm at the Maloney Road West home of Margaret Nina.
Nina was at home when she got into an argument over money with her 31-year-old son.
During the heated dispute, her son allegedly stabbed her multiple times and then attacked his brother who managed to escape and call the police.
When officers arrived and confronted the suspect, he attacked them. However they managed to subdue him without using deadly force.
Nina was found lying motionless in the living room.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the Mayaro Police Station pending enquiries.
