Six passengers burnt in maxi fire

A fire which started at the front of a small maxi-taxi this morning caused six passengers to be burnt.

The passengers were taken to the Arima Health Facility to be treated for their injuries.  Firemen from the Arima Fire Station responded to the report and put out the blaze. Firemen are said to still be at the scene in Railway Road, Arouca. The fire is reported to have started around 7:30 this morning, and fire officials believe it may have started under the driver’s seat where the engine can be found. Police who also responded to the fire are trying to determine what caused the blaze.
