A site is identified for the development of the new Youth Development Centre in Morvant.
The site identified at Coconut Drive Morvant, lies adjacent to the Malick Secondary School.
Discussion on the subject took place between Minister of Youth Development and National Service, Foster Cummings and Member of Parliament for Laventille East/Morvant and Minister in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Adrian Leonce, recently.
Minister Cummings said a Youth Development Centre in the community of Morvant will “bring technical and vocational training opportunities for the young persons in the area, thereby contributing significantly to the creation of safe spaces for youth and providing an enabling environment for positive youth development.”
Principal Harry Jaikaran, who was also at the visit, said the construction of the YDC would be “beneficial to his students and the community at large and would help eliminate idleness among the youth.”
