Siparia, Pt Fortin Residents Highlight Issues Affecting Them During UNC’s Pre-Budget Consultation

Increase in crime, insufficient allocation of funds and the non-release of funds to regional corporations and a lack of development in the business landscape, these are some of the issues raised by residents of Siparia and Point Fortin at the United National Congress’ fifth Pre-Budget Consultation at the Ackbar Trace Community Centre, Fyzabad this week.

In a media release on Wednesday, the UNC said persons drew on their years of experience in the oil and gas sector, agriculture and business, to give in-depth, highly knowledgeable analyses of problems and workable solutions.

Calls were also made for a more concentrated investment in the health sector and for a thrust toward green and renewable energy.

Speakers from the stage included Councillor Doodnath Mayrhoo, MP for Fyzabad Dr. Lackram Bodoe, Siparia Chairman Denish Sankersingh, Senator Taharqa Obika, Councillor Deryck Bowrin, Economist and Financial Analyst Ved Seereeram, Entrepreneur Nikkita Gopaul, Siparia Chamber of Commerce VP Emerson Cheddie and MP for Barataria/San Juan Saddam Hosein.
