Shopkeeper shot during a robbery in Curepe

A 40-year-old shopkeeper is being treated for gunshot wounds he received during a robbery at his Curepe business place on Thursday afternoon.
According to reports the man was at his shop on Ramgoolie Street, at around 3.30 pm when he was confronted by two bandits one were in possession of a firearm.
The bandits tied the man up and ransacked the shop – the shopkeeper attempted to call for help but was shot.
The bandits stole $5000 and a carton of cigarettes before escaping in a grey Mitsubishi Lancer.
Residents heard the gunshots and took the wounded man to the hospital where he was treated for the gunshot wounds.
Investigators said the bullet passed through the man’s right hand and was lodged in his midsection.
The businessman is currently in stable condition.
