A man was shot and wounded in the vicinity of the Belmont R.C. School on Sunday night.
The 44-year-old victim was driving his Mazda 6 east along Belle Eau Road around 9:30 p.m. when on reaching near the Belmont R.C. School, occupants of an unidentified Nissan Tiida opened fire on him.
The victim was struck multiple times, and managed to drive himself in his damaged vehicle a short distance before crashing into a wall near #24 Belle Eau Road.
The victim was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he was treated for multiple gunshot wounds and internal injuries.
He is in critical condition and he was scheduled for several surgeries.
Investigators recovered 48 shell casings.
The damaged vehicle was towed to the Belmont Police Station for further investigation.
