Senior Police Official claims familial disputes contributing to murder rate

A Senior police official has claimed that an increase in familial disputes is contributing to the number of murders being witnessed throughout the country.

Superintendent of Police, Rishi Singh made the comment while speaking at the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Weekly Media Briefing held at the Police Administration Building, Port-of-Spain yesterday.

Superintendent Singh said intimate and non-intimate domestic violence matters are of increasing concern pointing in the direction of a social degradation which must be addressed by stakeholders.

He said increasingly, relatives get into simple arguments which result in death and neighbourly and familial property disputes are also finding their way into records of probable causes.
