Security guard detained as 2nd suspect in the brutal attack of Venezuelan teen

A 20-year old security guard has been detained in connection with the assault of an 18-year-old Venezuelan teenager.

The victim, who lives in Siparia, was attacked on Tuesday while on her way to sell empanadas in San Fernando.

She is currently warded in a critical but stable condition at the hospital, after undergoing surgery to save one of her eyes.

On Wednesday, police detained a Special Reserve Police (SRP) officer in connection with the crime. 

The 26-year old SRP and the security guard were held along the Audrey Jeffers Highway around 10:40 am on Wednesday in the vehicle that was allegedly used in the crime- a white, Honda Civic.

The car was sent to the Special Evidence Recovery Unit to be inspected for any traces of DNA.

The security guard lives at Waterhole Drive, Diego Martin.
