Search on for teen who drowned in waters off Claxton Bay

A search is ongoing for the body of a teenager, who is said to have drowned in the waters off Claxton Bay.

On Saturday, 19-year-old Josiah Henry went fishing with two other men in a pirogue some 200 feet from shore, when the boat engine died.

The men reported that Henry jumped into the water to tow the boat back to the shore, but while swimming, he disappeared below the surface.

This occurred near the jetty at Trinidad Cement Limited.

The men raised an alarm and several boatmen and fish vendors nearby entered the water and searched for Henry as officials from the St Margaret’s Police station and Coast Guard arrived.

Up to Sunday morning, the body was not found.
