Search is on for hit-and-run suspect who killed officer

The silver car, driven by an unknown suspect, reportedly struck and killed a police officer in the vicinity of Courts Megastore on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway (CRH) on Saturday morning.

Around 3:00a.m, PC Leon Ramsey was driving along the eastbound lane of the CRH when a pedestrian attempted to cross the road in front of him. Reports indicate that Ramsey, who was in the company of motorcyclist PC Clark, swerved to avoid hitting the pedestrian, but the vehicle skidded and collided with the pedestrian. Ramsey was then hit by an unknown driver who did not stop. Ramsey and the pedestrian died at the scene.

In a press release, the Commissioner of Police and Executive of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) extended condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of No. 19880 PC Leon Ramsey. Ramsey of Lange Park Chaguanas had approximately four years of service.

Police are on the lookout for the silver motorcar that failed to stop after the incident.

Anyone with information on the involved vehicle is asked to call 800-TIPS or contact the police at 555, 999, 911 or at any police station, text/WhatsApp 482-GARY(4279) or share information via the TTPS App.
