The Scrap Iron Dealers Association of Trinidad and Tobago says it is not backing the government’s decision to bring to an end to the export of iron from this country.
Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, at a news briefing, on Friday, said the move is required in a bid to restore order.
Government is also taking steps to regulate the industry which has been affected by incidents of theft.
Speaking at a news briefing on Monday, President of the Association, Allan Ferguson, said the membership is about saving the industry which many depend on for their livelihood.
