Scotland gets more time for affected HDC Independence Sq. residents

Port-of-Spain South MP Keith Scotland has assured that the recently displaced residents of HDC’s Independence Square apartment will be offered assistance to integrate into their new environment.

Scotland, speaking in an interview on CNC3’s Morning Brew yesterday, said he met with HDC officials on Sunday and as a result some of the affected residents were given more time to relocate.

Scotland revealed: “Some units have been found in San Fernando. This will require physical moving that will take time.”
“It will require relocation as it pertains to schools. If there is a need for assistance in finding schools that are closer to the area, that will be provided. Any assistance that is needed in a structured way will be provided to the legitimate residents,” he added.

Scotland noted that several residents has been occupying apartments illegally while others had failed to regularise their status while living in a unit with other family members. He said his office will be working with all who have been dislocated.
