Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has announced that schools will re-open virtually on January 4th, 2021.
Dr. Rowley made the announcement during a media briefing at the Office of the Prime Minister this afternoon.
He said CXC students, forms 4-6 and standard 5 students, Principals and teachers and other administrators will be allowed physically in schools for upcoming tests between January 17th and February 4th, 2021; dependent on how the citizenry conducts it self during the Christmas season with the current COVID-19 pandemic.
He said once numbers remain low and the curve remains flat, in school interaction can take place; however with the use of masks still in place.
Dr. Rowley also announced that supermarkets, groceries and other outlets that supply masks and healthcare items will be allowed to open 24-hours from December 10 to January 3.
This he said will allow more time for shoppers to grab items during busy period with overcrowding and rushing to get to a store before it’s closed.
